Yes — but only if your child genuinely lives at the grandparent's address. The address must be the one on your child's records, and if you use it to gain home-school distance priority you must continue living there for at least 30 months from the start of registration.
MOE allocates distance priority based on the official residential address on record at the point of registration. Using a grandparent's address is allowed only when the family actually resides there — many families do move in with grandparents before registration, which is legitimate.
What is not allowed is registering an address you do not live at purely to gain priority. MOE conducts checks, and giving a false address is an offence that can cost your child the place.
If you benefit from home-school distance priority (the 1km or 2km bands), you must live at that address for at least 30 months from the start of the P1 registration exercise, or MOE may transfer your child to another school.
